Four children make a mysterious discovery on their home planet that leads to them becoming lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Jude Law in “Skeleton Crew” plus more stars from a galaxy far, far away. The holographic circus that entertains Neel’s young siblings is the same one Chewbacca’s family sees in the infamous The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978). Featured in AniMat’s Crazy Cartoon Cast: Silly Old Deadly Bear (2022). Watched the first two episodes and while there is clearly an effort to create some sort of “Goonies in space,” look, what’s so wrong with that? This is a very different take on a story from the Star Wars universe. I liked the look and feel of suburbia in this world because we’ve never seen anything like it before. The town they came from reminded me more of the area in E.T. than anything we’ve seen on shows lately. The 4 main characters are typical but likable, all have their clearly defined role in the group and are well portrayed by the actors. The pirate vibe is not necessarily something we’ve seen before and adds a slightly creepy element and an atmosphere of danger. If this was an 80s movie, it would have been a perfect fit. I like it so far because of the new storytelling elements in the Star Wars universe, the nostalgic echoes of films from my childhood and the fact that I get to share this Star Wars experience with my kids.
