A vibrant journey through the life of Pharrell Williams, told through the lens of LEGO animation. Animal Logic, who animated the previous four theatrical LEGO films, did not return to animate the film, as it would be considered a cheat on Warner Bros., even though LEGO and Warner Bros. both share the rights to the original franchise. Instead, the animation was done at Pure Imagination Studios in Los Angeles and Zebu Animation Studios in India. Both Pure Imagination and Zebu have previously recreated the style of the original film franchise through theme park attractions, PSAs, and the 1989 episode of The Simpsons “Brick Like Me (2014).” The opening logos for Universal Pictures, Focus Features, Tremolo Productions, and the Lego Group studios are made of LEGO bricks. A biopic of Pharrell Williams but made with Legos, cool and original. But you have to ask yourself who was this movie made for? Because it’s too boring to be a kids movie and most adults wouldn’t watch it because they’d think it was a kids movie. I watched it myself last night and found myself pretty bored, this Lego made biopic was the only thing saving this movie otherwise no one would be interested except Pharrell Williams super fans. Also, I don’t know how Focus Features survived the entire year, they’re the only movie theater where the theater was consistently empty every time I went, even room by room, there were only a total of 5 people. The other 2 movies I saw at Focus Features this year, the auditorium was completely empty and I was the only person in the audioturm, it’s very rare for me to be all alone in a theater.
